1960-63 Ludwig Super-Ludwig 400 Chrome over Brass 14x5"

Pre-serial Keystone badge dates it to circa 1960-63. Catalog scan from 1961.

This is the legendary heavy chrome over brass shell with signature crimpled snare beds and brass hoops too!

Comes with original hardware including P83 strainer & butt, internal baseball bat red felt muffler, COB hoops and tension rods. (Two tension rods are Ludwig, but have a slightly different thread/shaft profile.)

This is the studio and live snare to have! As used by many for decades. The Rolls Royce of metal snares.

There is dents, scratches and aging but this is to be expected. In places, you can see the brass hue showing through the chrome. I have photographed this under the dampener mechanism. On one of the snare gates on the bottom hoop, it is slightly misshaped, but has no affect.

Freshly stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop. Now fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador, Ambassador snare side heads and Puresound Custom Pro Steel wires.
