1941 Leedy 'Broadway Standard' 14x8"

Legendary 3-ply shell - maple/poplar/maple with solid maple reinforcing rings.

Finished in original Cream and Gold Duco.

Wow - what a drum!

This duco finish is incredibly rare, not to mention this larger 14x8” size. What a special drum. I really wish I could justify keeping this drum but it really does need to be played, so snap it up before I change my mind. I really doubt there’s another of these out there.

All original nickel over brass hardware including 3-point strainer, internal muffler, double flanged hoops (with stamped ‘Broadway Standard’ on bottom hoop), butt end and tension rods.

Stamped a few times: ‘4110’, 41 4’ and ‘288’ ? Not sure what the last stamp means, but the ‘4110’ and ‘41 4’ signify October 1941 or April 1941.

Standard wear and tear to duco finish and aging on the nickel plated hardware. All works as it should.

Bizarrely, it seems that the strainer arm has been set up wrong in the factory and the lever pulls towards the player to engage the wires. Regardless, it still works as it should, just the lever goes the opposite way to what I've seen before.

See photos for condition.

Freshly stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop in November 2021.

Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador Snare Side heads with brand new Puresound Custom Pro steel wires.
