Late 40’s WFL Ludwig 'Junior Champion Deluxe Model' 14x10" Parade Drum in Red & Gold Duco

Designed by Wm F. Ludwig for the advanced drum and bugle corps.

The drum is finished in original and very rare red and gold duco finish, which still has a remarkable amount of shine. The hoops, understandably have worn from use.

The nickel hardware is in beautiful condition and has polished up great.

The shell is 3-ply mahogany (interior ply) / poplar (middle) / maple (outer ply) with maple reinforcing rings and the edges are in remarkable state as often the case is with these 40s and 50s Ludwig and WFL models.

The drum is 8 lug single tension, meaning the tension of both heads is controlled from the top, pulling the hoops together and tensioning both heads at once. The tension rods just run through the open lugs.

This is a rare opportunity to own one of these drums in a very rare finish. These don’t crop up often.
