Mid 30's Ludwig & Ludwig 'Pioneer' 14x5" Nickel over Brass (8-lug)

Nickel over brass shell and hardware with original strainer, butt, single flange hoops and tension rods. This drum is a stunner! 

Freshly stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop, and fitted with brand new Remo Vintage A and Ambassador heads with Puresound custom pro steel 20 strand wires. 

I personally have one of these drums and I can't recommend them enough. Everybody loves a brass snare and often go for a black beauty but I can't help but appreciate the 8 lug more over the 10. I just think they have more crunch to them, and who doesn't love a crunchy back beat?! They are my favourite metal snare behind Acrolites.

There is scratches on the shell, to be expected for its age but really not much at all. You’d honestly struggle to find a nicer example. You would not believe this drum is from the 30’s!

It really does sound beautiful. It’s beautifully controlled and warm without being honky like a lot of brass snares have a tendency of.
