Jun 24 1961 Ludwig ‘Pioneer’ 14x5” in Black and Gold Duco 

Pre-Serial Keystone badge dates this to 1960-63. There is a date stamp which might say Jun 24 1961 but it’s quite hard to tell if that’s correct.

Legendary 3-ply shell - mahogany (inner), poplar, maple (outer) with maple reinforcing rings and white interior coating.

6 lug design

Original nickel over brass hardware including original first gen P83 strainer, internal dampener, butt end, bow tie lugs, tension rods and hoops.

Lacquer finish is in great condition with very minor crazing, aging and chipping.

The adjuster thumb dial for the internal dampener looks to have been adjusted with grips at some point, so the dial has some marks from this.

Whilst this is a drum that was catalogued as 14x5”, there has been known irregularities to the depths. This drum is actually more like 5” 1/4th deep.
