Early 50's Slingerland 'Student Model Radio King' 14x7"

8 lug, 3-ply mahogany shell with reinforcing rings, nickel hardware including original single flange hoops and 3-point strainer.

The shell certainly has some scratches and shows sign of use, but this sure adds character. The nickel hardware shows a bit of age but has polished up to a nice shine.

The drum has been stripped, cleaned, polished and fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador, Ambassador snare side and Puresound wires.

There is a crack in the outer ply veneer to the left of the badge. I’ve seen this on 3-ply and solid shell examples and actually have a few Slingerland snares myself of this era where this has happened. Usually there is wrap or duco finish to hide the fact that the plies have dried out but with this being a bare lacquered shell, it’s more clear. I don’t believe this to affect the drums’ performance.
