Early 50s Leedy & Ludwig 'The Reliance' 14x5"
in original Black and Gold Duco Lacquer
with nickel over brass hardware including strainer and butt end.
Legendary 3-ply (maple/poplar/maple) shell with maple reinforcing rings.
This is a delightful wooden snare which really ticks the boxes for crispness and warmth, not to mention, classic looks, especially with the imperial lugs.
The black and gold duco finish is in great shape for its age.
The hoops are Ludwig Pioneer which were mainly used on earlier snares in the 30s and 40s, and are not original to the drum but still work great.
It looks like a previous owner has reglued a little bit of seperation between the shell and reinforcing rings.
The tension rods and hoop claws are modern, so you donβt need to worry about the original claws snapping.
See photos for condition.
