1964 Ludwig 'Pioneer' 14x5"

in Blue & Silver Duco with nickel over brass hardware

6 lug design, 3-ply shell (maple outer, poplar middle, mahogany inner; with maple rerings), with original white interior coating

The original duco finish is in great shape with only a few chips. The nickel hardware has cleaned up nicely but shows natural aging.

Comes with all original hardware: P83 strainer, red felt baseball bat internal dampener, butt end and tension rods.

These 60’s 6 lug Pioneer shells naturally tune quite fat, but this one is surprisingly crisp too and tunes up great. These drums are some of the best kept secret amongst some of the top session players so be sure to grab this if you want to expand your collection!

The snare beds on the bearing edges seem to be a bit off centre to the strainer and butt end but I’ve had no issue tuning it up. You can blame Ringo for Ludwigs’ quality control!

Stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop. Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador snare side heads and Puresound Custom Pro steel wires.
