6 lug design, 3-ply shell (mahogany inner, poplar middle, maple outer)

The original duco finish was removed by a previous owner. I sanded off the awful lacquer that was on it and have lightly waxed the drum. The original blue paint from the duco finish can be seen in the grain and on the edges, in places.

The nickel hardware has cleaned up nicely but does show scuffs/aging in places.

Comes with original P83 strainer, internal red felt baseball bat dampener, tension rods, hoops and butt end.

These 60s 6 lug Pioneer shells naturally tune quite fat, but this one is surprisingly crisp too and tunes up great. These drums are some of the best kept secret amongst some of the top session players so be sure to grab this if you want to expand your collection!

Whilst this is a very unique drum with wood grain that won’t be found again in a rush, this isn’t how Ludwig had the drum leave the factory, so please take the drum for what it is and see photographs for condition.
