1960s Leedy ‘No. 1140’ Aluminum 14x5"

6 lug design. Comes with original chrome over brass hoops, lugs, tension rods, internal dampener and butt end.

The strainer is a modern Inde. The original was beyond repairable. The Inde throw is one of the best on the market and fits the original holes.

This model of snare isn't often seen but was from an era when Leedy were manufactured by Slingerland.

I believe this is the same aluminium ‘orange peel’ shell as the first generation/prototype Acrolite in the early 60s.

There is some minor aging, scratches and scuffs but this is to be expected.

The shell has quite an industrial look to it which looks amazing behind the shiny chromework infront.

The welded plate is original.

Being a 6 lugger, it produces a lovely fat tone but also being very crisp and responsive.

Catalog scan from 1965.

Fresh off my bench, May 2021.

Fitted with brand new Remo Coated Ambassador and Ambassador snare side with brand new Puresound Custom Pro Steel wires.
