1960-63 Ludwig Pre-Serial 'Jazz Festival' 14x5" in original Black Diamond Pearl

There is a date stamp but I can’t read it but the keystone badge with no serial number dates it to 1960-63.

3-ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany shell with white interior coating and maple reinforcement rings.

All original chrome over brass hardware including original P83 strainer, hoops and internal baseball bat dampener. The hardware is in great shape and really has cleaned up nicely.

This drum is in beautiful condition and shows minimal aging.

As you’d expect it sounds beautiful. A wonderful crisp and warm drum which would be very versatile and deserves to be played as much as admired.

There is one lug which appears to have been drilled twice for its mounting holes. I can neither confirm or deny if this was done in the factory or not. The bottom edge looks a little rough as often the case with these old shells but I’ve found no issues when tuning up.

The last one of these I had in BDP sold in 10mins.
