Mid 1960's Slingerland 'Gene Krupa Sound King' 14x5"
Mid 1960's Slingerland 'Gene Krupa Sound King' 14x5"
Mid 1960's Slingerland 'Gene Krupa Sound King' 14x5" (8 lug)
with Zoomatic snare strainer, solid brass shell, triple chrome plated, supplied with tone control and rim-shot hoops.
All hardware is original and is in great working condition.
The drum is in pretty remarkable condition. These are a great alternative to the Ludwig COB models for a third of the price. A lot of studio engineers love these snares and are often recognised as a hidden gem and much underrated snare. I mean if it was good enough for Gene Krupa, then..!?
The 'Gene Krupa Sound King's were offered with 10 and 8 lugs. I find the 8 lug models to achieve a fatter sound overall.
There is scratching in the chrome but this is very minimal, as is with pitting. You'd struggle to find another in this condition for a while. The plate part of the butt plate isn't original but works fine.
