Nickel over Brass shell with two beads.

Original nickel over brass hardware including engraved top hoop and Speed-Way snare strainer, named after the famed Indianapolis Speedway race track. It features a long adjustable throw off lever, original desiged to make it easy to adjust the throw off lever either by hand or stick.

A previous owner has introduced a screw in the strainer where a rivet must have come lose. The strainer when in the ‘off position’, doesn’t release the wires as much as modern strainers, so the wires can sometimes rattle against the bottom head depending on your snare tension.

I believe the drum dates to 1926-28, as the Speed-Way strainer was introduced in 1926, and by 1929 the Leedy factory was moved from Indianapolis, Indiana to Elkhart, Indiana, and the hoops are engraved Indianapolis.

Leedy introduced the first non-tubular design lugs in 1923. Prior to this, most drum companies used 'tube' lugs on their snare drums and bass drums. 

Overall, the drum is in nice shape. It has some scratches and aging, but nothing unexpected for a drum that is almost 100 years old.
