in original Black Sparkle Pearl wrap
1-ply solid maple shell with maple rerings. 8 lug design
All original chrome hardware including three-point snare strainer, internal tone control, butt end and "Rim Shot" hoops. Hardware shines nicely, but lugs do show age with pitting.
These are some of the loveliest and unique snares around.
The last few 1-ply Slingerland snares I’ve had in, have flown out and this is a particularly rare finish.
Unlike a lot of these shells, this example has virtually no gaps between the shell and rerings.
Overall the wrap is in great shape but does have a few scratches. The sparkles have ‘purpled’ slightly but generally, it’s a lovely lovely example of the rare wrap.
All tension rods are era correct, but 8 are shorter than the other 8. This seems to be more common than you'd think. They all work as they should though.
Heads fit a little tight at first, but with some tension they fit fine. If I’m being extremely critical, the tension rods appear to splay a little as they’re going into the lugs.
I have replaced the original cork washer on the strainer with a new rubber washer which works great.
Originally there would have been metal plates to mount the snare wires and on the strainer side, these would have been screwed in. With the upgrade of snare wires, I have tied the cord onto the strainer bottom part.
See all photos for condition.
Fresh off my bench in May 2021.
Fitted with brand new Remo Coated Ambassador and Ambassador snare side heads, with brand new Puresound Custom Pro steel wires.
