1951 Slingerland 'Krupa Model Radio King' 14x6.5"

1-ply solid maple shell, 8 lug design with original Black Diamond Pearl wrap and nickel over brass hardware.

Medium oval badge dates the drum to 1951. Catalog scan also from 1951.

These drums really do need no introduction. 

Fitted with original Radio King stamped flanged hoops, Radio King strainer and internal tone control.

This drum is in great shape. You’ll honestly struggle to find a nicer example.

This model drum would have originally come with wires with a metal strap at the strainer side which screwed into the strainer plate. Obviously these wires are well past their best, so I have used new Puresound wires with cord tied around the strainer plate which works great. The extension arm on the strainer is chrome and will have been added after the original was no doubt lost. The screw holding this in also isn’t original but all works as it should.

As often with these old Slingerland 1-ply shells; new heads are a little tight but they do fit and it has tuned up perfectly.

Originally stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop in 2019, and now available once again.

Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and (new in 2019) Ambassador snare side heads and Puresound Custom Pro Steel 20 strand wires.
