1950s Slingerland 'Bop' 13x4.5" in Aqua Sparkle Pearl

3-ply mahogany, poplar, mahogany shell with maple reinforcing hoops

6 lug design

Nickel over brass hardware including three point strainer, internal dampener, double flange hoops and butt end. Strainer is missing extention piece but still works.

These drums are scarcely seen and are very cool.

Catalog image from 1959. Snare drum looks to have been part of the 2-piece 'Combo-Be Bop' configuration which consisted of 20x18" kick and 13x4" snare so I’ve always known these as the ‘Bop’ model, but this isn’t fully official.

The lugs haven’t been drilled and mounted in the centre of the drum, which means the batter tension rods are dialled in closer than they probably should - because of this, I have switched to modern tension rods to allow for more tension before the original tension rods ran out of thread.

Freshly cleaned in my workshop October 2024.

Fitted with brand new Remo Coated Ambassador and Ambassador Snare Side heads with brand new Puresound steel wires.
