3-ply mahogany shells with beech reinforcing rings
Freshly stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop in August/September 2019.
The kit has been fitted with brand new Remo heads all round. Bass drum is fitted with Coated Ambassador batter and Fiberskyn Ambassador reso with Beverley and Joe Cox Drums decals. Toms have Coated Ambassador resos with Vintage Ambassador batters (the 13” has a slightly used Coated Ambassador batter).
The kit is in great shape and finished in the original delicious grey silk pearl wrap. These drums were built in the same factory as Premier, but just fitted with different hardware and fitted with triple flange hoops instead of die cast hoops. I prefer the triple flange hoops on these as I feel they let the drum speak.
The chrome work is in great shape, particularly the lugs and hoops. The toms feature the original slotted head tension rods and also are fitted with original internal dampeners. Some of the hardware shows ageing, but overall, it’s in great shape. One of the tom mounts had to be sawed off as one of the screws had stripped, this has left a bit of surface damage to the mount on the 13” drum.
All the drums have had dealer stickers on. I removed the stickers from the 12" and 13" toms then realised you could see the fading on the wrap so decided to leave the stickers on the 16" and 22". The dealer stickers read 'Kitchen's of Leeds'.
Bass drum appears to have a few paint splashes, but they are underneath the wrap and could not be polished out. There is a little bit of tom rash on the bass drum but nothing major.
The floor tom legs and bass drum spurs are included, but there are no tom holders included with this kit unfortunately, so the purchaser will need to use a snare stand for their tom of choice. If you wish to use the 12” and 13” you will want to source some tom holders for the kit. I can help source these, but didn’t want to buy them as it would raise the price of the set.
These mahogany shells really do sing beautifully and are full of warm tones. If they had a Ludwig badge they would easily be twice or three times as much as listed here.
